Accident Management for Motor Carriers

Imagine one of your drivers is involved in a major collision involving a family in a minivan. As the Safety Director, you have become the Claim Administrator and must work with management, law enforcement, insurance companies, attorneys, and eventually a jury in court.

By the end of this webinar, you’ll be able to confidently answer the following:

  • Do you know what to do to properly collect the necessary documentation?
  • What is spoliation?
  • How do you defend yourself against the trend in “nuclear verdicts?”
  • What can you expect to experience from other parties during the process?
  • Are you prepared for court?

We’ll look at some of the steps you need to take to collect records and document the incident post-accident from the perspectives of the accident investigator, insurance adjuster, and transportation attorney. This is not an accident investigation/reconstruction class but a class that provides the safety manager insight into how to systematically work through the aftermath of a collision crisis.

New Entrant Safety Assurance Program (NESAP)

This video walks new motor carriers through the New Entrant Safety Assurance Program (NESAP). It explains what the program is, why it exists, and what new carriers need to do to stay compliant with FMCSA regulations. The goal of NESAP is to help new entrants operate safely, reduce crash rates, and understand their regulatory responsibilities. Don’t get caught unprepared. Watch this video to learn what to expect, how to stay compliant, and how to avoid costly penalties that could shut your business down before it even gets going.

This course is also an excellent refresher for an existing motor carrier to revisit the regulatory requirements they fall under.

A Four Part FMCSA Account Essentials Guide

This training consists of four segments within this video. It teaches the viewer how to create an FMCSA Portal account, Login.gov account, FMCSA Employer Clearinghouse account and how to link the FMCSA Portal account and Clearinghouse together.

  • FMCSA Portal Account
    • An FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) portal account is essential for motor carriers to access and manage important regulatory information and compliance requirements. In January of 2024, carriers now need to access their FMCSA Portal account to access other FMCSA systems like the Safety Measurement System (SMS) or the DataQ website.
  • Login.gov Account
    • A login.gov account provides secure, single sign-on access to multiple agency sites, including the FMCSA Portal. Login.gov provides a centralized login and enhanced security features like multi-factor authentication.
  • FMCSA Clearinghouse Account
    • The FMCSA Clearinghouse is a secure database that tracks CDL drivers’ drug and alcohol violations to enhance highway safety. Creating an account is crucial for employers to comply with reporting requirements and query requirements.
  • Linking Your FMCSA Clearinghouse Account and your FMCSA Portal Account
    • Linking your FMCSA Clearinghouse account to your FMCSA Portal account connects your DOT number to the Clearinghouse, making it easier to manage compliance.
